Renewable Heating Wales (RHW) bring you sustainable and energy-efficient heating solutions. Over 10 years experience in design and installation of heat pumps.

We install in Swansea, Carmarthenshire Pembrokeshire and beyond, We design our heat pumps maximise energy efficiency while reducing carbon emissions.

Designed for comfort, we ensure our design is calculated to work even in cold weather, ensuring warm air and comfort all year round.

Our heat pumps feature low design temperature and running costs and this can significantly reduce your energy bills, offering potential annual savings against other systems.

What are Heat Pumps?

Heat pumps are ingenious devices designed to provide heating and cooling for homes and businesses.
These systems transfer heat from one location to another to generate a comfortable indoor climate. They harness the ambient air, ground source energy, or water in the case of water source heat pumps.

Why Use A Heat Pump in South Wales?

Heat pump systems are renowned for being remarkably energy efficient, when designed and installed correctly, often outperforming traditional gas, oil, LPG boilers and electric heaters.

Leveraging the heat energy in the environment means these systems can significantly reduce heating bills, resulting in annual savings.

These marvels of modern technology have a significantly lower carbon footprint than conventional heating options, making them an environmentally friendly choice.

In a world increasingly aware of the importance of sustainable living, installing a heat pump is a step towards a greener, more responsible future.

How Heat Pumps Work in Wales’s climate?

A heat pump works using a simple yet effective principle of transferring heat from one location to another. The heat pump system extracts heat energy from an external source, like the ground or outside air, and delivers it indoors. In the case of Wales’s climate, which tends to be mild and damp, heat pumps can be particularly efficient.

The Role of Refrigerants in the Process

Refrigerants are a critical component in operating a heat pump. The refrigerant absorbs heat from the ground or outside air and then changes it from a liquid to a gas, effectively capturing and transporting heat energy.

As the gas falls back to a liquid state within the heat exchanger, the captured heat is released, producing hot water or warm air for heating your home.

The cyclical process doesn’t require other fuel, making a heat pump a greener choice for heating and cooling.

Heat Pump Dynamics Explained

During winter, the pump extracts heat from the outside air or ground (even at low temperatures) and transfers it indoors.

Types of Heat Pumps

Air Source Heat Pumps: Harnessing Outdoor Air

Harness the natural energy of the outdoor air with our Air Source Heat Pump range.

An air source heat pump extracts heat from the outside air and transfers it into your heating system. It’s an efficient solution that can lower your electricity, lPG , Oil or gas bills, reduce harmful emissions, and keep your home warm and comfortable all year round.

Ground Source Heat Pumps: Tapping into the Earth’s Energy

Benefit from the Earth’s consistent heat energy with our Ground Source Heat Pump range.

A ground source heat pump uses a ground loop to absorb heat from the ground and transfer it to provide heating and hot water where needed, regardless of the outdoor temperature. This system offers low operating costs, enhances energy efficiency, and significantly reduces carbon footprint.

Hybrid Heat Pumps: Combine Heat Pump and another technology.

Optimise energy consumption with our Hybrid Heat Pump range.

This system incorporates air source or a ground source heating technology to optimise heat transfer under different weather conditions. A hybrid solution offers the perfect blend of a heat pump technology and another source of heat (Gas, Oil , Electric) to optimise potential buildings with higher heat loss or heating demands.

Cost Considerations

How Much Do Heat Pumps Cost in South Wales?

The cost of a heat pump system can vary based on the specific needs of your home. Heat pump prices in South Wales depend on factors such as the size of the property, the type of heat pump, and the complexity of installation. However, investing in a heat pump can reduce your heating bills and save you money long-term.

Factors Influencing Heat Pump Prices

Heat pump prices are affected by a variety of factors. The type of heat pump system (air-source, ground-source, or hybrid), the complexity of the heat pump installation process all affects the overall cost. Other considerations include the model and manufacturer and whether additional features are included, such as reversing valves for cooling mode or underfloor heating.

Long-Term Savings and Return on Investment

While the initial installation cost of a heat pump may seem high compared to traditional heating systems, the long-term financial benefits are significant.

Heat pumps are incredibly energy-efficient, cost less to run, and will save you money on energy bills.

They also contribute to reducing harmful emissions, which is good for the environment and leads to financial incentives.

Over time, the savings from reduced heating bills can outweigh the initial investment, leading to a positive return on investment.

Not only this investment into an air source heat pump would increase your house value.

Efficiency Insights

Measuring Efficiency: COP and SCOP.

At Renewable Heating Wales, we understand the importance of heat pump design.

We measure the performance of each heat pump using two key metrics: the Coefficient of Performance (COP) and the SCOP Season coefficient performance).

These ratings indicate a heat pump’s ability to convert energy into heat, allowing you to make an informed buying decision about your heating system.

In simple terms this means electricity in to heat output the higher your COP or SCOP the lower the running cost.

Enhancing Performance with Proper Installation

Installation quality is paramount with RHW our chosen engineers have had in house training with us, This is critical to guarantee optimal efficiency and low operating costs. Our installs speak for themselves. This ensures each heat pump system we design and install maximises heat transfer and reduces energy consumption.

Whether you install an air source or ground source heat pump, we work to ensure your heating bills reflect the efficiency of our design and preposed products for each products.

Are Heat Pumps Worth It?

When considering installing a heat pump system, the first question is often regarding the payback period. The payback period refers to the time it takes to recover the heat pump installation costs through reduced heating bills and increased energy efficiency. The precise payback period can vary depending on the type of heat pump installed and your individual heating needs.

Many customers find that the cost savings, combined with the reduction in carbon emissions, make the investment worthwhile.

Government incentives and grants present another compelling argument for the transition to heat pumps. Several grants and financial incentives are available to homeowners who switch from traditional gas boilers to heat pumps. Such schemes help offset the cost of installation to a significant extent.

Is a Heat Pump Right for your new home in Wales?

Assessing Your Home’s Suitability

You must understand the heat energy demands of your space, consider your home’s insulation levels, and recognise the importance of external factors such as local climate siting of the heat pump.

For example, a well-insulated home with at least double or triple-glazed windows will likely extract the maximum benefits from a heat pump installation. Fabric first is our approach.

Compatibility with Existing Heating Systems

Next, consider how a heat pump might integrate with your existing heating system. Heat pumps can work with existing systems this may be called a “Retrofit Solution” We would assess the current heating system and then due

April 2022, our gas boiler started playing up and so we had to look for a replacement. My brother-in-law had recently installed an air source heat pump by this company which seemed to be the way forward. Renewable Heating Wales provided us with a quotation and a time to carry out the installation. They started the work on a Tuesday by removing the old gas boiler system and water tank. The new system was fully up and running by Friday midday.A very professional installation and we can highly recommend them.
